Rumors have swirled for a long time about unidentified residents living in camps on the Mohegan Reservation.
Feather News and Brokenwing Editorials staff went into the woods by the railroad track just north of Trading Cove and identified one such camp. We did not investigate any further into the woods although we can't rule out other such camps in the vicinity. In fact, grafitti near the first camp seemed to indicate another "homeless shelter" nearby.
We encourage tribal members to avoid this part of the Reservation due to security concerns. Based on the campsite, you just may have a better chance of getting mugged if you enter this area carrying Colt 45 Malt Liquor.
