Rhode Island Senate Agrees To 24-Hour Gambling At Twin River

Feather News

Days after the Rhode Island House of Representatives approved 24-hour gambling at the Twin River racetrack-slot parlor, that state's Senate also approved a bill that would allow round-the-clock slot play at the facility.

The bill now awaits the signature of Governor Donald Carcieri.

The request to remain open 24 hours a day was one part of Twin River's reorganization plan. Twin River filed for bankruptcy protection last week. Another key aspect of their reorganization plan is to cut the approximately $600 million of debt in half.

Except for Foxwoods, the Twin River racetrack-slot parlor represents the closest slot machine competition to the Mohegan Sun. Twin River is about 60 miles from the Mohegan Sun and has 4,700 slot machines.
